Dynamax is in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Brilliant Pearl?

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Brilliant Pearl are the latest installments in the long-running series on monster taming, and while Sword and Shield have gone one step further, Brilliant Diamond and Brilliant Pearl are remakes of previous titles. Sword & Shield brought the shocking Dynamax mechanics to the series, but are they back in these remakes? Read on.

With no huge stadiums in sight and traditional gyms back in the mix, Dynamax hasn't returned in the remakes of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Brilliant Pearl. The developer appears to stick with the original games for better or for worse. While this may be disappointing to some, it makes sense that The Pokémon Company tries to appeal to the nostalgia we have more than the latest innovation in the series.

Each gym battle unfolds like old school games as you beat every coach in your way for a chance to beat the big kahuna, the gym leader. With smaller buildings in play, gyms break every day if your monsters can grow to the size of a skyscraper.

Dynamax is in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Brilliant Pearl?

Dynamaxing in Pokemon Sword & Shield was an important element of the Galar region's world building as it was deeply inspired by British sporting culture. Each battle was set in an arena inspired by a football stadium. The characters even wore soccer uniforms to complete the whole gimmick. Having these stadiums has created enough space for your Pokémon to grow enormously. It is unclear whether dynamaxing will return in any way or not for future major titles, but at the moment this feature is exclusive to Pokémon Sword and Shield.
