How to disable Y-Comms in Pokemon Sword and Shield

If you've been exploring Pokemon Sword and Shield and sometimes feel like your screen is a bit cluttered, you can blame Y-Comms. It will send you alerts about what nearby players are doing that appear on the screen in the form of notifications. It can be a little pushy, so in this article we'll show you how to turn them off.

The bad news here is that there is no way to disable them in the game itself. Game Freak wants you to see what the players around you are doing, even if it prevents your enjoyment of the game. Like many things in life, there is a useful workaround, but that too is not without problems.

If you activate the Nintendo Switch's flight mode, it will disable notifications, giving you a nice clear screen as you play. Unfortunately, this disables all connections to the device, so you won't be able to play with friends until you turn it back on.

It is not an ideal world where your choices are to play with friends but to see endless notifications or play with a clear screen and see none. We'd love to see the Game Freak patch in a better way to tackle it in the future.
