Trainers who will go above and beyond their Pokémon training are on the hunt to acquire a list with perfect individual values (IV). They are instrumental Pokémon Sword and Shield. A Pokémon with a set of perfect IVs will have the best stats for that Pokémon species. If you want the best training, you are on the hunt for them and getting all six stats available to have perfect IVs will take some time.
Before going down this path, you will want to reach the end of the game. By completing the game, you will have access to Judge IV, who will inform you of the quality of a Pokémon's stats. It's in your Pokémon box, and when you hover over the one you want to learn, you can press the "+" button. Here are the details provided by Judge IV:
- Not good: 0
- Decent: from 1 to 10
- Good enough: 11 to 20
- Very good: from 21 to 29
- Fantastic: 30
- Excellent: 31
You will only read the words next to a Pokémon's stats. Among those listed, you want a Pokémon to have "The Best", to have a perfect IV.
To give yourself an edge, rather than blindly searching for Pokémon to provide you with the best IVs, you want to look for those with a weird orange aura around them. You will know them when you see them. If you defeat them, you will receive a considerable amount of Watts to take them out. However, you want to catch these Pokémon because they have three random perfect IVs on their profile.
The next step requires you to go out and capture a Ditto. A Ditto is essential because it will give you access to the ability to always breed a Pokémon when you want to get an Egg. Instead of catching two of the same Pokémon species whenever you want a perfect IV for an egg they have together, you have an Ditto that can morph into that respective Pokémon, cutting the job in half for you. The tricky part is capturing a Ditto with an ideal IV, so this may take a while. It's worth it in the end.
To catch a Ditto, you need to find one at the Outrage Lake location in the wilderness. You will need the Rotom Bike with the ability to ride on water, which you acquire by traveling along Route 9 from a scientist who is being harassed by two members of Team Yell.
After acquiring the Ditto, you want to take the Destiny node item. You can find it in the Hammerlocke Pokémon Center shop, but it only unlocks after completing the game. It will cost 10 battle points, which you earn by completing the battle tower at the end of the game.
With your Ditto and Destiny Node in hand, you are close enough to acquiring the perfect IVs for your ideal Pokémon team.
You want the Ditto to keep the knot of fate when you leave it with the breeder. This item ensures that five IVs are passed on to the two Pokémon's child, where parents traditionally only pass on three. For those who may have noticed, you won't have six IVs right away. You will have to repeat this process over and over to get all six IVs, and the sixth is randomized.
As long as you catch a Pokémon with an orange aura, you catch a strong Ditto with three perfect IVs by itself, and to give the Ditto the knot of fate, you should be good at going. You will have to repeat the breeding process several times and you will make a lot of luck during this process.
