Why can't I update Fortnite Mobile? This is a question that both iOS and Android Fortnite players have been asking themselves recently. Those who downloaded the mobile game no longer receive Fortnite app updates, sadly leaving them lagging behind other platforms. So what's the big deal? Here's what you need to know about missing Fortnite Mobile updates on Android and iOS.
Why can't I update Fortnite Mobile for iOS and Android?
The iOS and Android versions of Fortnite have been removed. This means that new players cannot download Fortnite Mobile, but also that existing owners cannot update their applications. While Fortnite is currently still playable on smartphones and tablets for those who have already downloaded it, the game will not be updated alongside the PC and console versions.
This was confirmed by the developer of Fortnite Epic Games, who stated:
"Apple has blocked Fortnite from the App Store, removing the ability for everyone to install and update the game on iOS devices."
This statement was made before Fortnite was also canceled on Android - now, the same goes for there. The reason platform owners remove Fortnite is the Mega Drop deal. In a move that aimed to put Apple and Google to shame, Epic offered customers discounts on V-Bucks by making direct purchases, cutting those companies' share of profits and violating their terms.
Basically, there is a dispute over who gets what share of the money you spend in Fortnite. Until the dispute is resolved and the game is re-released, there will be no regular updates (if any) of Fortnite Mobile.
Why can't I update Fortnite Mobile? (iOS and Android)
- It is normal that you cannot update Fortnite on iOS and Android.
- Due to a dispute between the developer of Fortnite Epic Games and both owners of the platform, Fortnite Mobile has been removed from the list of the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store.
- As a result, Fortnite Mobile will not receive iOS and / or Android updates until an agreement is reached.
It is worth noting that the new Fortnite updates will continue as planned across all non-mobile platforms. Update 2.80 has just arrived, in fact.
