Pokémon Sword and Shield has some exciting ways to evolve Pokémon, and Applin definitely falls into that category. Applin can evolve into Flapple or Appletun, but you will need some special items to make that happen.
How to evolve Applin into Flapple or Appletun into Pokémon Sword and Shield
To evolve Applin, you will need to find special items that can turn it into Flapple or Appletun.
- Apple Tart - turns Applin into Flapple
- Sweet Apple – trasforma Applin in Appletun
Where it gets really interesting is that Flapple is exclusive to Pokémon Sword and Appletun is exclusive to Pokémon Shield. You can trade Pokémon between players, so you can still get both in your game if you find someone playing a different version than yours.
To get apple tart and sweet apple, the process is the same in both games. When you get to Hammerlock, the place after the third gym battle, go down the ramp and go to the area with the Poké Mart.
Turn left and continue until you reach a large arch with a trainer near the grass. This area will be after crossing a wooden bridge. Make sure you have an Applin on your team, then talk to this trainer until the “I don't have” voice option appears. They will take the Applin, so talk to them again and at the end of the conversation you will get the Tart Apple or the Sweet Apple.
Now go to the bag, scroll down to “Other” items and use it on your Applin. They will evolve instantly and it has no level requirements to do so.
