Team Go Rocket is, once again, up to par with Pokemon GO. The new Team GO Rocket Leaders has arrived for us to battle with, and there's also the special Looming in the Shadows quest to complete! In this guide we will go through the various stages of research and what you need to do to get your rewards.
Part of this research revolves around the Rocket Radar that Professor Willow worked on. But first you will have to build it. Thankfully, this is one of the research tasks, so follow the steps below and you'll be well on your way to showing Team GO Rocket who the best Pokemon trainers are.
Pokemon GO – Looming In The Shadows Research Guide
Step 1
- Spin 10 Pokestops (500 XP)
- Sconfiggi 3 Team GO Rocket Grunts (500 XP)
- Cattura 1 Shadow Pokemon (500 XP)
Rewards: 500 Stardust, 10 Poke Balls, 10 Razz Berries
Step 2
- Spin a Pokestop 5 days in a row (750 XP)
- Purify 15 Shadow Pokemon (750 XP)
- Win 5 raids (750 XP)
Rewards: 1000 Stardust, 3 Hyper Potions, 3 Awakenings
3 pass
- Build a missile radar by combining six mysterious components. These can be obtained by defeating Team Rocket Grunts.
Reward: Currently unknown
4 pass
- Use the Rocket Radar to find Team Rocket Leaders and capture their Shadow Pokemon.
Reward: Currently unknown
5 pass
- Use the Rocket Radar to track down Giovanni and rescue a legendary Shadow Pokemon.

We will update this guide as more information on the different steps and rewards becomes available. There seems to be plenty of time to do this, so don't get frustrated if you can't get stuck in the looming shadow quest right away.
