Lugia already has a powerful defense stat. Removing some of this for even greater attack power becomes an even more robust Pokémon to use in the Master League, surpassing its traditional form.

You always want to make sure the shadow Lugia has access to the sky attack for the charged move. The main reason for this is the amount of energy that all of Lugia's charged moves cost. The Sky attack is the cheapest at 45 of energy, while the next is future view for 65 of energy. Lugia needs an attack from the sky to trick an opponent into using a shield, exposing them to second choice, Lugia's best attack, the aeroblast. However, Aeroblast will be a rare sight for the Lugia shadow because it is exclusive unless you want to use an Elite Charged TM.
