Why are there fireworks in Pokémon Go?

Why are there fireworks in Pokémon Go?

From time to time, specific events occur in Pokémon Go that grant a twist to the traditional weekly quest, Pokémon debut, or the announcement of a brilliant Pokémon. Sometimes, visual effects are added to the game for a limited time to show an extra layer of celebration. So, if you are seeing fireworks on November 5th, what event is happening and why are there fireworks going off in the sky?

The fireworks are related to the Festival of Lights event that takes place in Pokémon Go. The Festival of Lights is an event focused on the Diwali Festival that takes place in India. It is a five day festival. It is a celebration of the victory of light over darkness or good over evil. The event takes place on November 4th, in the real world, but for Pokémon Go it starts on November 5th at 10:00 in your local time zone.

You should see the fireworks for a few days after the event starts. After that, they should go away. Niantic shared in her blog post on the Festival of Lights that the fireworks are only supposed to last a few days but haven't offered a specific day. Since Diwali only lasts five days, we may only have the fireworks in play for the next five days, so until November 10, and they may go away.

Regardless of when the fireworks disappear, the Pokémon Go Festival of Lights event is expected to continue until November 14th.
