Communication is key in a MOBA like Pokemon Unite. You need to talk to your team to set up attacks, ask for help, and most importantly, ensure other team members take down bosses. However, for some who are new to the MOBA genre, it can be daunting. Here's how to chat in Pokemon Unite by texting your teammates.
There are two cases in which you can communicate with your team: before and during the match. To metaphorically make that mouth slam into the setup screen, press - on the switch. From there, you can select your favorite message. At the bottom of the list, you can tell which direction you will go: up or down. Your teammates will then know where you are going and plan accordingly. You can also tell what kind of player you will be as a defender or attacker. Or you could just say hi, that works too.
When in game, you can communicate by pressing up on your D-Pad. A wheel will come out. You can say "I need backup", "Direct to upper path", "Direct to middle area" and "Direct to lower path". You can also coordinate with other players and say that your final move (Unite Move) is ready.
There are three symbols on the top of the wheel. The green shield tells other players to retreat from an area of the map, the red fist means attack, and the yellow flag means gather. The latter would be great for assembling your team in one space to take out a great Pokemon leader like Zapdos.
