The first community day of 2020 will arrive in Pokémon GO on January 19th. The event will last three hours and will start at 11am local time, ending at 14pm local time. At the moment, Niantic has not yet released any information on which Pokémon will be featured in the event. As soon as we do, we will update this guide with relevant information.
Community Days are all about getting out into the world and playing with your friends, and they focus on being able to catch special Pokémon in the wild. In addition to the special Pokémon, there are also standard rewards that players can take advantage of during the event.
- 2x catch Stardust
- 2x XP capture
- 1/2 egg hatch distance
It will be the perfect time to work on any research task involving hatching, especially the task of hatching seven eggs in the game. Finishing this research task will cause you to encounter an encounter with Alolan Vulpix.
There is a lot to do in Pokémon GO as we wait for the special Community Day Pokémon to be announced. Special acquisition research tasks are also available. These special research tasks involve Team GO Rocket and succeeding with them will earn you a fight with Team GO Rocket Boss, Giovanni.
The first research breakthrough of the year is also active, involving a Lapras with Ice Shard and Ice Beam. Lapras Research Breakthrough runs from January 1st, 13pm, to February 00st, 1pm PST.
Adventure Sync Hatchathon is also currently running in the game and will run until January 16th at 13pm PST. You receive additional rewards for hatching eggs, so it's the perfect time to work on those seven eggs for your field research. You will receive the following bonuses during Hatchathon 00:
- Twice as much Hatch Candy
- Double Stardust
- After walking 50km you will receive 50.000 stardust, 15 rare candies and a Unova stone
It's a hectic time in Pokémon GO right now, so just start walking.
